This middle school entrepreneurship program is designed to provide teachers professional development and recognize student achievement in applying knowledge in personal finance, entrepreneurship, and economics. This program is hosted in cooperation with the Oklahoma Council on Economic Education, the WEOKIE Foundation, the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives and the Oklahoma Agricultural Cooperative Council. It will bring credit unions and cooperatives to partner with teachers and schools involved in the program.
There are three phases of the program. Phase 1 involves teachers and partnering cooperatives attending the teacher training in August. Phase 2 includes teachers providing relevant instruction and students preparing a cooperative business model pitch with cooperative/credit union assistance. Phase 3 is the competition with each teacher/cooperative team bringing five students to present their business plan to a panel of judges.
