The Oklahoma Economics Challenge is a state-wide competition held each Spring for high school students.  Student teams compete for a chance to win both team and individual prizes, while increasing their understanding of and interest in economics.

Combining the excitement of an athletic competition with academic excellence, Oklahoma high school students participate in a series of written quizzes on micro, macro and international economics topics. The top teams then compete in a highly-intense, face-to-face quiz bowl round. State winners proceed to a semi-finals competition held online (date TBD) with the chance to move onto the National Finals.

Students only compete against teams within their division.

  • David Ricardo Division
    • Students who have never taken an economics course
    • Students currently or previously enrolled in one GENERAL economics course or course that includes introductory economic concepts (i.e. social studies, business, personal finance, etc.)
    • The course taken is taught by secondary educator
  • Adam Smith Division
    • Students currently or previously enrolled in an ADVANCED economics course, such AP, IB, honors, and an economics course for college credit
    • Students who have taken 2 or more economics courses

If any team member meets the qualifications for the Adam Smith Division, that team will be automatically placed into that division.
